Tips on Selecting a Remodeling Contractor
Some Do's and Don'ts when hiring a remodeling contractor:
| | Do verify the contractor's name, address, telephone number, and credentials. |
| | Do ask how long the contractor has been in business; they should haveat least five years experience. |
| | Do ask for at least 3 completed job references. |
| | Do call the Better Business Bureau to see if any complaints have been filed against thecontractor or if any action is pending. |
| | Do ask for a certificate of insurance coverages. It is for your protection. |
| | Don't automatically jump at the lowest estimate, especially if it is more than 20 percent lower than the other estimates you've received. The chances are good that they will be unable to complete your job. |
